Herbal balms for your skin

With the rise in popularity of herbal skin care, you may well have seen ingredients like calendula, arnica and starflower popping up in the store bought products you buy. Applying herbs topically can have all sorts of positive benefits to your skin and wellbeing. They have been used for centuries for healing and beauty. Many plants contain anti inflammatory properties to help ease aches and pains. Herbal balms can be used to treat injuries like sprains. Harness their balancing actions to treat skin issues like eczema, psoriasis and acne too.

In this workshop I will share the secrets of how to turn herbs into skincare. Using oil to extract their healing magic in a process known as maceration. We will get to know the skin healing benefit of three native plants. We will look at using herbal tinctures in your balm, utilising not just their healing power but also their natural preservative qualities! As well as meeting a few select essential oils that have wonderful topical benefits.

I'll introduce you to the first steps of product formulation and then you'll create your very own personalised herbal balm to take home. We will be using local bees wax and herbs foraged or grown in my own garden.

This workshop is ideal for anyone who wants to be able to create their own herbal skin care but isn't sure where to start. You will be able to choose the ingredients that will aid your personal needs.
